fujitsuToday Fujitsu announced that Turkey’s largest automotive manufacturer has deployed the company’s HPC solutions based on the latest Intel Xeon E5-2670 processors.

Tofaş manufactures both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, producing 400,000 units per year for brands including Fiat, Citroen, Peugeot, Opel and Vauxhall. With Fujitsu’s PRIMECENTER, PRIMERGY and ETERNUS systems, Tofaş’ R&D team can make increasingly complex analyses of different kinds of vehicle models to stay ahead in a competitive market.

We selected Fujitsu for a variety of reasons – not the least of which is the speed and performance of the hardware,” said Hakan Korkmaz, Information and Communication Technologies Director at Tofaş. “Fujitsu was also most knowledgeable about High Performance Computing systems, providing all the information we needed to get started quickly, and with fast response time. Most of all, Fujitsu took the time to analyze our business needs to provide a system design which is scalable for the future and help us stay competitive.”

Benchmarks

Tofaş asked each vendor to run benchmarks with the same input files on its demo system and to provide output files and benchmark reports.

The main objective of these benchmarks was to evaluate the performance of hardware and software configurations proposed by Fujitsu for High Performance Computing when running a wide range of automotive-specific HPC applications.
