Today Panasas announced that its ActiveStor16 hybrid scale-out NAS appliance is now shipping. Powered by the company’s most advanced storage operating system release to date, PanFS 6.0, ActiveStor 16 delivers an industry first – performance that increases with scale alongside enterprise-grade reliability that improves at scale – a counterintuitive promise that eliminates fundamental compromises between performance, capacity and reliability that storage users have previously come to accept.
The ActiveStor16 appliance increases storage density by 50 percent while PanFS 6.0 delivers RAID 6+ triple parity data protection for a 150x increase in reliability over dual parity products, with no compromise to performance or manageability.
The University of Minnesota selected ActiveStor16 to accelerate their critical medical and scientific research projects.
