cloudhpcToday X-ISS rolled out CloudHPC, a consulting service created to guide organizations through the complex process of moving their HPC systems into the cloud environment.

Deployment of an HPC system in the cloud can be a confusing and complicated process,” said X-ISS President and Founder Deepak Khosla. “We will assist organizations in making this migration and in deploying the right cloud option for their needs.”

Every HPC cloud migration offers potential benefits and pitfalls. For this reason, the X-ISS CloudHPC offering is a comprehensive service that may include four distinct phases:

  • Assessing whether HPC cloud deployment will benefit the organization
  • Selecting the most beneficial cloud deployment scenario
  • Planning and implementing the migration into the cloud
  • On-going management of the HPC deployment

There are essentially three main cloud deployment options for HPC clusters – Public, Private or Hybrid clouds,” said Khosla. “It’s critical to determine which option is the best taking into account an organization’s requirements relating to cost, security, availability and scalability.”

Leveraging 15 years of HPC experience, X-ISS offers a vendor-neutral approach to evaluating cloud options on behalf of a client. X-ISS selects the deployment option that is optimal for the needs of the HPC operator and its end users. X-ISS has the in-house capabilities to manage the implementation of the cloud deployment and then provide on-going operational support to keep the HPC clusters performing optimally in the cloud.

X-ISS is uniquely suited to offer the CloudHPC service. Since 2001, the privately owned firm has provided HPC cluster support to organizations in a variety of sectors, including oil & gas/energy, life sciences, academia, and government.

Based in Houston, X-ISS has deployed more than 500 HPC systems. Its signature offering is the X-ISS ManagedHPC, an outsource cluster administration service that involves the constant monitoring and reporting on the health of HPC infrastructure. In 2013, X-ISS rolled out DecisionHPC, a software-as-a-service product that delivers business insights into the efficient operations of HPC clusters.

All X-ISS services are provided with the ultimate goal of keeping HPC systems operating efficiently and cost effectively.
