sgi_uv2Today, SGI and Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced an agreement in which HPE will OEM the SGI UV technology as the foundation for an 8-socket system – the HPE Integrity MC990 X Server. Extending HPE’s solution portfolio for mission critical environments, including HPE’s flagship mission critical solution Superdome X, the new system leverages the scale-up architecture of the SGI UV technology and provides HPE customers with an advanced follow on solution to the 8-socket HPE ProLiant DL980 G7 Server. Through this partnership with SGI, HPE will address time-to-market demands while meeting the performance, scalability and availability requirements of enterprise customers.

SGI is pleased to embark on this strategic partnership with HPE. This agreement highlights the value of SGI solutions to the enterprise market and the benefits of an 8-socket solution. The reach of the SGI technology will be greatly extended with HPE’s extensive presence in the enterprise for mission critical solutions,” said Jorge Titinger, president and CEO of SGI. “HPE’s selection of SGI technology is a testament to the performance and reliability of the UV platform.”

Delivering up to 6TBs of coherent shared memory and featuring Intel Xeon E7-8800 v3 processors, the new 8-socket HPE system can be utilized in a variety of mission critical application environments, including online transaction processing and real-time analytics for SAP and Oracle workloads to make faster, smarter decisions and gain competitive advantages.
