Charlie Bender Scholarship

In late 2007 the Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation (CASC) announced the creation of a scholarship in memory of Dr. Charlie Bender, the founding chairperson of CASC.

The scholarship is expected to fund one to two computational chemistry students per year to attend SCxy, the US-based annual conference of the high performance computing community.

The first award is expected in 2008. Details have yet to be released, but those interested can check out the proposal online.

Ken Kennedy-Cray Inc. Graduate Fellowship

Cray endowed the Ken Kennedy-Cray Inc. Graduate Fellowship Fund with a $150,000 gift. The is designed to provide support to graduate students at Rice University with a preference given to those involved in high-performance computing.

I can’t find a link to information on the fellowship at Rice yet (possibly because the program is so new). I’ll add it as soon as its available; in the meantime, I suggest you contact the George R. Brown School of Engineering for more information.
