Dr Debora Sijacki wins 2019 PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC

Today the European PRACE initiative announced that Dr Debora Sijacki from the University of Cambridge will receive the 2019 PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC for her outstanding contributions to and impact on high performance computing in Europe. As a computational cosmologist she has achieved numerous high-impact results in astrophysics based on numerical simulations on state-of-the-art supercomputers.

PRACE is once again seeking nominations for the Ada Lovelace Award for HPC 2018. The award recognizes women in Europe who are breaking new barriers in science and engineering.

Frauke Gräter to receive 2nd PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC

Today the European PRACE initiative announced that Prof Dr Frauke Gräter from University of Heidelberg is the winner of the PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC. It is the second time that PRACE awards a female scientist for her outstanding impact on HPC research, computational science or service provision at a global level. The award will be presented at PRACEdays17, to be held May 16-18 in Barcelona.

Nominations Open for PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC

The European PRACE initiative is now accepting nominations for the PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC. “PRACE is happy to receive your nomination for the Award. The winner of the Award will be invited to participate in the concluding Panel Session at PRACEdays17, and will receive a cash prize of € 1 000 as well as a certificate and an engraved crystal trophy.”

As the first recipient of the PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC, Dr Zoe Cournia was selected for her outstanding contributions and impact on HPC in Europe on a global level. “Using the PRACE HPC resources and recent advances in computer-aided drug design allow us to develop drugs specifically designed for a given protein, shortening the time for development of new drugs,” says Dr Cournia. “I believe that our work is a good example of how computers help develop candidate drugs that have the potential to save millions of lives worldwide. I am honored to receive this prestigious award and hope that this serves as inspiration to other female researchers in the field.”
