Amazon Braket to offer Multivendor Quantum Computing Service

Today AWS announced Amazon Braket, a fully managed service that enables scientists, researchers, and developers to begin experimenting with computers from quantum hardware providers (including D-Wave Systems, IonQ, and Rigetti) in a single place. The quantum service is one of three key initiatives as a part of the company’s plans to help advance quantum computing technologies. “As a fully managed service, Braket makes it possible for customers to get started on quantum computing by providing a single development environment to build quantum algorithms, test them on simulated quantum computers, and try them on a range of different quantum hardware architectures.”

Today quantum startup QC Ware launched the public beta of its Forge cloud service. QC Ware developed Forge to enable large enterprises and public-sector organizations to start building quantum skills and prepare for the potential disruption that quantum computing will bring to the market. “To assist our customers in that exploration, we are spending all of our cycles working on ways to squeeze as much power as possible out of near-term quantum computers, and to bake those methods into Forge.”

Rigetti Computing acquires QxBranch for Quantum-powered Analytics

Rigetti Computing Named Technology Pioneer by World Economic Forum

The Rigetti 128-qubit chip — What it means for quantum

Chad Rigetti writes that his company is building a 128-qubit quantum computer over the next 12 months. The company has already built the 128-qubit processing chip. If successful, it could be the world’s most powerful quantum computer and it could have the chance to outpace traditional supercomputers. “To drive practical use of quantum computing today, we must be able to scale and improve the performance of the chips and connect them to the electronics on which they run — which has proven to be one of the most challenging aspects of quantum computing.”
