This morning HP announced a new Integrity blade designed to handle “memory-intensive workloads.”

The Integrity BL870c is HP’s first four socket Itanium blade, doubling the capabilities of the earlier 860c. You can configure a blade with four dual-core Itanium 9100s, and up to 96GB of memory. More details here.

The company has also expanded its Solution Blocks — short system descriptions targeted at specific user requirements that include a bill of materials on HP BladeSystem hardware.

Included in the new blocks are two for ERP (enterprise resource planning), an SOA (service oriented architecture) solution based on BEA AquaLogic and WebLogic, one on Siemens PLM (product lifecycle management) software for the manufacturing and distribution segment, and one for finally IBM WebSphere.
