The Rocks cluster development team has announced general availability of the Rocks cluster toolkit version 5.0 Beta. The Rocks developers have been working day and night [well, maybe just nights] in order to include all sorts of new functionality in Rocks. The biggest feature in version 5.0 is the addition of a Xen virtualization roll. Cluster administrators will now be able to configure Xen virtual machine images on cluster just like any other compute appliance.
The Rocks core development is funded by a National Science Foundation Grant at the University of California San Diego. For more info on Rocks version 5.0 Beta, read their release here.
