Following the ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, the Bulgarian State Agency for Information Technology and Communications [SAITC] has announced that IBM will deliver the first machine to its new supercomputing center. SAITC will take ownership of an IBM BlueGene/P slated for DNA diagnostics, accelerated drug discovery and financial modeling.
The first machine will ship with 8,192 procs rated at an estimated 23.42 TFlops. This would put Bulgaria around #75 on the current Top500 list. IBM has also pledged collaboration from their research lab in Zurich.
