Appro has announced that its latest upgrade to their Xtreme-X line of high performance computing systems will be the first to offer two QDR Infiniband ports, each with independent chips. The new system configuration featuring Intel Nehalem [5500] silicon will support up to 40 Gb/sec per port.
The Appro Xtreme-X Supercomputer delivers high performance and higher availability computing,” said John Lee, VP of Advanced Technology Solutions for Appro. “With this unique InfiniBand QDR on board connectivity combined with the latest Intel Xeon Processors 5500 series, Appro Xtreme-X Supercomputer will provide outstanding performance in a high-bandwidth and low-latency infrastructure required for today’s capacity computing and production system availability requirements.”
Appro has designed the system to scale out via single and dual rail fabrics, out to 1000TF of peak compute capability. For more info on the new digs at Appro, read the full release here.
