Governor Deval L. Patrick of Massachusetts and other state officials announced Wednesday the construction schedule for the new high performance computing center in Holyoke, MA. According to the press conference, construction will begin in the fall of 2010 with a target completion date of late 2011. Administration official Greg Bialecki added that he expects a site along the canals to be selected by the end of the year.
I know where Western Massachusetts is, I know where you are, and what your character is and I have confidence in Holyoke,” the governor said.
“This is about our better tomorrows and we share those better tomorrows with you,” Patrick said.
The next 120 days will be dedicated to site selection and the initial design of the project. The governor made the announcement at Holyoke Community College alongside partner representatives from the University of Massachusetts, Boston University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and various private companies.
