Peter Lee departs DARPA for Microsoft

+1 for the Borg Collective.

Peter LeeMicrosoft continues its push to accrete the best and brightest from the CS and HPC communities, this time by wooing Peter Lee from DARPA.

Erwin Gianchandani posts at the CCC blog that Peter will be leaving DARPA, where he has been director of Transformational Convergence Technology Office (TCTO) for the past year, and joining MS as Managing Director of Microsoft Research Redmond.

In joining Microsoft Research, Peter departs DARPA, where he has been the Director of the agency’s Transformational Convergence Technology Office (TCTO) for the past year. There Peter has … challenged conventional Department of Defense (DoD) approaches to computer science research by infusing new energy into [DARPA]’s relationships with academia and industry and reinforcing the agency’s unique role at the intersection of research and application.

HPC folks will know TCTO for HPCS, and more recently for UHPC and OHPC.
