Mellanox closed it’s acquisition of Voltaire this week in what many are seeing as a positive move for the industry. To set the stage, today Mellanox CEO Eyal Waldman issued an open letter to welcome customers, partners, and resellers to the newly combined company:
Voltaire has been a long-time partner and customer of Mellanox, and I look forward to the exciting opportunities that this union brings. The demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency server and storage connectivity is accelerating in the HPC, enterprise, mega warehouse data centers, cloud computing, Internet and Web 2.0 markets. Starting today, we now have more of a solid foundation for market-leading solutions to address and serve a larger and more diverse customer base.
Now, if you’re like me, you might be wondering what’s next for the company, which now describes itself as “the leader in end-to-end InfiniBand and Ethernet connectivity solutions.” It’s a simple story, really. With the addition of Voltaire software and products, Mellanox is now well-positioned to go after new business.
Make no mistake–Mellanox is looking to expand it’s market far beyond HPC.
