2011 Exascale Progress Meter

The Exascale Progress Meter is a reflection of the collected opinion from a recent survey of readers throughout the global HPC community.Readers were polled in the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Spain, Russia, China, Japan, India, and Canada.

The scale has 20 points with 10 being right in the middle between “Little” and “Good”.

And while most of those polled in China rated their progress as “Good” to “Very Good”, our progress meter presents a much wider opinion.

Most concerns called out a lack of confidence in leadership (more prevalent in the U.S.), too much focus on taking “the easier path”, and too many people working self-serving, personalized agendas.

But surely it’s not all bad.

As a matter of fact, here is a nice note to end with.

We asked readers to list the top influencers in which they have the most confidence for leading us to exascale. According to our survey, with a wide margin over all the others, the two companies in which the community has the most confidence right now are:
