In this slidecast, Phil Hughes from Clustered Systems presents: The 100KW Rack Introduction. Using a grant from the US Dept. of Energy, the company has developed a highly dense compute rack with a PCI-E interconnect and an extremely efficient warm-water cooling system.
The company estimates that a completely operational Petaflop compute facility using the new technology could be built for approximately $20 Million USD. To be available through OEM partners, first shipments will likely start in 2Q2012, and SLAC will deploy the first system.

Some site feedback:
1. When I click on a button offering me to download a PDF, I am used to expect a direct link. It’s important because I open indirect ones in new tabs. But maybe it’s just me.
2. When I click on a download link I expect to be able to download the thing. While Google Docs doesn’t give me such option.
Well, after 2 minutes of searching I found that the comment no. 2 is incorrect. It is possible to download the thing, the option is just hidden under a menu that looks like a static text. Oh well, I think that if you’re offering downloads from such unfriendly sites, a quick instruction on how to get the file would save readers’ time.
