A Boatload of HPC Events Coming Up

With all the HPC events coming around the corner, we thought it would be good to revisit our Spring preview to help ensure that our readers don’t miss out. In our own version of March Madness, insideHPC will be on the road for nearly a month straight, so be sure to check back here for exclusive onsite event coverage.

  • ISUM 2014 International Supercomputing in Mexico. March 18 – 21, Ensenada, Mexico. ISUM 2014 promises to be an excellent forum where you can share your experiences with colleagues in HPC research and see presentations from the leading technology companies.
  • GPU Technology Conference. March 24-27, San Jose, CA. Now in its fifth year, GTC will feature keynotes from Nvidia’s Jen-Hsun Huang, Pixar’s Dirk Van Gelder and Danny Nahmias, and Dr. Adam Gazzaley from UC San Francisco.
  • HPC Advisory Council Swiss Conference. March 31- April 3, Lugano, Switzerland. The annual Swiss Conference will feature talks on High Speed Networks, High Performance and Parallel I/O, Communication libraries: MPI, SHMEM, PGAS, GPU computing, CUDA, OpenCL, Exascale, and Big Data.
  • National HPCC Conference. March 25 – 27, Newport, RI. As one of the longest-running conferences in the HPC space, HPCC will feature talks by Intel’s Stephen Wheat, Happy Sithole, Kelly Gaither, Dr. Wu Feng, Eng Lim Goh, and Don Lamb.
  • MoabCon 2014. March 31 – April 3, Park City, UT. As the annual Adaptive Computing User Group meeting, MoabCon features great technical talks from users of Moab and TORQUE. Adaptive will also be introducing new product enhancements to enable faster simulation and data analysis.
  • Grid Engine User Forum Series 2014. Various locations, starting April 3, 2014. Join Univa for a chance to network with peers from organizations across many industries and to gain insight into Grid Engine development plans. Univa provides users an opportunity to influence the future development path by defining and discussing a rich feature set that will be sure to increase the benefits driven from Grid Engine.
  • HPC User Forum. April 7 – 9, Santa Fe, NM. The main topics for the Forum center around industrial partnerships with large HPC centers and how they’re working, with perspectives from the U.S., France, and the UK.
  • LUG 2014. April 8 – 10, Miami. The 12th annual Lustre User Group will feature more time for interactive discussion as well as deep technical presentations from DataDirect Networks, Intel, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), NetApp, Oakridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), TITECH (Japan), and Xyratex.
  • Red Hat Summit. April 14 – 17 in San Francisco. Our own Rich Brueckner will be moderating a panel discussion on Big Data Infrastructure. And yes, he will be wearing his Red Hat.
  • GEOINT Symposium. April 14 – 17 in Orlando, FL. The annual GEOINT Symposium, hosted by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, is the nation’s preeminent intelligence event.
  • PRACE Days. May 20 – 22 in Barcelona. With a theme of “HPC for Innovation – when Science meets Industry,” PRACE Days combines the previously separate PRACE Scientific Conferences and PRACE Industrial Seminars and will feature experts from academia and industry presenting their advancements in HPC-supported science and engineering.
  • ISC’14. June 22 – 26, Leipzig, Germany. This year, the conference will kick off with a keynote by Prof. Dr. Klaus Schulten on Large-Scale Computing in Biomedicine & Bioengineering.
  • High Performance Computing Symposium (HPCS 2014). June 25 – 27. Halifax, Nova Scotia. HPCS is a multi-disciplinary conference, considered Canada’s premier advanced computing forum. Each year, Canadian researchers, analysts, and IT professionals from academia and industry gather to exchange the ideas, tools, and new discoveries that are driving today’s innovations in computational research.
  • TERATEC Forum. July 1 – 2, Paris, France. Each year, the TERATEC Forum welcomes more than 1000 attendees, highlighting the technological and industrial dynamism of HPC and the essential role that France plays in this field.
  • High Performance Computing International Workshop. July 7 – 11, Centraro, Italy. The main aim of this workshop is to present and debate advanced topics, open questions, future developments, and challenging applications related to advanced high-performance distributed computing and data systems, encompassing implementations ranging from traditional clusters to warehouse-scale data centers, and with architectures including hybrid, multicore, distributed, and cloud models.
