Hello, I would like to personally invite you to the Inaugural Seagate HPC User Group at SC14 in New Orleans, November 17, 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott at the Convention Center.

For those who do not associate Seagate with HPC, while we have been providing core disk drives into the market for decades, our presence and focus on this market has increased since the acquisition of Xyratex earlier this year. One of the aspects that attracted Seagate to Xyratex was its ClusterStor HPC business. At Seagate we believe in working closely with the pioneers that will help shape the future of IT. Our belief is that the HPC community is really at the forefront of defining that future.

The last time SC was in New Orleans in 2010 ClusterStor was not announced; however, Xyratex took the opportunity to meet with many HPC users like you and demonstrated what we considered to be the future architecture and direction for HPC Storage.  The feedback we received during that week, on the need for more linear scalability, efficiency and reliability played a key role in shaping our architectural approach to scale out storage. Later in 2011 Xyratex introduced ClusterStor to the HPC Community.

In these three short years we have accomplished a great deal working with our partners and the broader community to deliver a string of industry firsts that have gone a long way in defining state-of-the-art scale-out storage architecture for HPC I/O systems. Our commitment and investments into this space are stronger than ever.  We are now shipping the ClusterStor 9000, the third generation of our flagship HPC storage product, designed for organizations that need highly efficient, reliable and available solutions to solve their complex storage I/O problems across a broad range of simulation and modeling applications.  Last year we also introduced the ClusterStor 1500, ideal for organizations that need scale-out storage with all integration and efficiency, but in a smaller package.  Lastly, our latest advancement is the ClusterStor Secure Data Appliance (SDA), the industry’s first and only ICD-503 compliant and secure scale-out parallel file system solution.

seagate_logoOur commitment to ClusterStor has never been stronger and we are extremely excited to push the boundaries of performance, scalability and efficiency even further as we leverage our unique ability to truly optimize ClusterStor at every layer of the storage stack from the application to the file system, all the way down to and including the storage media itself.  This integrated engineered system approach results in an end-to-end solution no other company can match.

I look forward to meeting you at the Seagate HPC User Group where you will have the opportunity to interact with Seagate executives and a variety of HPC Users and learn about some of the future technologies under development.  If you are unable to attend the event please visit us on the show floor at booth #3239.

Register for the Seagate HPC User Group.

Sincerely,

Ken Claffey
