Job of the Week: HPC Administrator at NYU Langone Medical Center

imgresNYU Langone Medical Center is seeking a Linux HPC Administrator in our Job of the Week.

To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and experience with Advanced Linux systems administration, scripting languages such as Bash, Python or Perl, and experience building, installing, and configuring open-source Linux software packages plus a working knowledge of computer hardware and of networking concepts and use of tools and protocols such as SSH, DNS, and DHCP. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying and administering Linux HPC clusters and peta-scale data storage systems; installing scientific software libraries, maintaining and upgrading licensed software; researching, deploying and optimizing resource management and scheduling software and policies; troubleshooting, isolating, and resolving application, system, hardware and other technical issues; developing scripts for system administration; providing technical support to HPC users; helping integrate HPC resources with laboratory equipment, such as DNA sequencers, mass spectrometers, etc; developing and implementing backup policies; facilitating development and delivery of training programs, tutorials and workshops for scientists and students on the optimal use of the HPC facility resources in their research projects; participating in consultations with researchers; assisting in preparation for submitting grant proposals; plus all related job duties as assigned. Excellent communication skills are essential.
