bright-cluster-manager-standardToday Bright Computing announced that Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE) is using the company’s software to manage its HPC infrastructure.

Founded in 1992, IYTE carries out research and education, with a particular focus on natural sciences and engineering. IYTE identified an opportunity to consolidate multiple compute nodes that were being operated by various university departments, in order to centralize administration and streamline costs. With budget secured from IYTE Scientific Research Projects Department and the Turkish Scientific Research Council, the university’s seven disparate compute nodes and the servers that supported all nodes were to be replaced by a single HPC environment that all departments will share.

We’re delighted with the solution that has been implemented at IYTE. It has achieved the objectives of streamlining costs and centralizing administration, so that all departments benefit from the compute power they need, without the requirement for time-consuming administration or costly overheads.”

Turkish systems integrator, Eduline, was chosen by IYTE to carry out the project and provide service support. Eduline proposed that the solution include Dell PowerEdge R720 and PowerEdge R620 servers. Eduline also sought a software solution to overarch the virtual environment and provide a single pane of glass interface that all departments could access, and chose the Bright infrastructure management solution. By selecting Bright, configuration and management of the infrastructure was far easier, giving the university departments more time to compute, and enabling research to be carried out more efficiently.
