It’s me again–Dr. Lewey Anton. I’ve been commissioned by insideHPC to get the scoop on who’s jumping ship and moving on up in high performance computing.

Here are the latest developments:

  • Ann Almgren and Esmond Ng have been selected as SIAM Fellows.

    Ann Almgren and Esmond Ng have been selected as SIAM Fellows.

    Ann Almgren and Esmond Ng of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s Computational Research Division (CRD) have been named as Fellows of SIAM, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Almgren is being recognized for contributions to the development of numerical methods for fluid dynamics and applying them to large-scale scientific and engineering problems. Ng is being recognized for contributions to the development, analysis, and application of sparse matrix algorithms for solving large-scale scientific and engineering problems.

  • Martin Homlish

    Martin Homlish

    Martin Homlish has been appointed to Cray’s Board of Directors. Homlish previously ran marketing for high-tech iconic brands such as Sony Corporation (Sony), SAP AG (SAP) and Hewlett-Packard (HP), and is currently the CEO of AMP, an end-to-end marketing agency within the holding company Omnicom Group.

  • Catalin Morosanu has been to the position of vice president of Cray sales for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Previously, Morosanu held several EMEA sales positions at Intel, including HPC sales director, key accounts sales director, lead market development manager, HPC sales manager and HPC marketing manager. Morosanu also previously held several HPC sales and presales positions in the EMEA region for SGI.
  • brockBrock Palen is now Associate Director Advanced Research Computing – Technology Services at the University of Michigan. You may know Brock from the popular RCE Podcast.
  • Adalio Sanchez

    Adalio Sanchez

    Adalio Sanchez is moving on from his role as Senior VP of Enterprise Systems at Lenovo. Having run IBM’s x86 server group for years, Sanchez is reportedly making more time for family after having helped his team transition over to Lenovo. Moving forward, Lenovo promoted Jay Parker to the senior vice president slot in its Enterprise Business Group.

  • Thomas Zacharia

    Thomas Zacharia

    Thomas Zacharia has returned to Oak Ridge National Laboratory as Deputy Lab Director for Science and Technology.
