imgresThe University of Vermont is seeking an HPC Linux Systems Administrator in our Job of the Week.

The position will collaborate with Senior Systems Administrators to design, build, configure, and run the Vermont Advanced Computing Core’s (VACC) cluster hardware and software. The VACC has a multi-thousand core “big compute” Linux cluster, with over 500 terabytes of GPFS storage. We are looking for someone with the creativity and enthusiasm to join our team and improve computing resources for our researchers. UVM is highly committed to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and the Vermont Advanced Computing Core is an important part of that. In additional to running the cluster, this position will help researchers effectively use the resources available and also improve system documentation.  Troubleshooting and performance debugging are also key tasks. The position will work with our faculty, helping to adjust the VACC compute resources to better meet their needs. This position will help prototype and deploy new HPC services, for example Hadoop or OpenStack.
