julichToday Mellanox announced that the Jülich Supercomputing Centre has selected the company’s EDR 100Gb/s solution to accelerate its new large-scale supercomputer. Called JURECA, the new 1.8 Petaflop system will be developed T-Platforms and ParTec to include Mellanox’s end-to-end EDR 100Gb/s solutions, consisting of ConnectX-4 adapters, Switch-IB switch systems, LinkX cables, and HPC-X software.

The new general-purpose supercomputer JURECA will provide our scientists and researchers with ground breaking performance that will advance their key research,” said Prof. Thomas Lippert, director, Jülich Supercomputing Centre. “Taking advantage of the performance, efficiency and scalability benefits of Mellanox end-to-end EDR 100Gb/s InfiniBand solutions, the JURECA system will enable our users to move our research forward more quickly.”

Mellanox EDR InfiniBand solutions enable the highest performance interconnect for high-performance applications. Furthermore, as a standard solution, it ensures backward and future compatibility, and support for any compute and storage platforms. Mellanox InfiniBand solutions include application acceleration engines that eliminate overheads from the CPUs and deliver highest system efficiency.

Large research labs require extremely fast data access for their applications in order to conduct their research more effectively,” said Gilad Shainer, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “Mellanox’s end-to-end EDR InfiniBand interconnect solutions provide the most efficient and scalable interconnect infrastructure to enable Jülich to increase their application performance and achieve their research goals.”
