connectXToday Mellanox announced first shipments of ConnectX-5, the world’s highest performing 10, 25, 40, 50, 56 and 100Gb/s EDR InfiniBand and Ethernet adapter, to leading server and storage OEMs and key end-users.

We are pleased to start shipping the ConnectX-5, the industry’s most advanced network adapter, to our key partners and customers, allowing them to leverage our smart network architecture to overcome performance limitations and to gain a competitive advantage,” said Eyal Waldman, Mellanox president and CEO. “ConnectX-5 enables our customers and partners to achieve higher performance, scalability and efficiency of their InfiniBand or Ethernet server and storage platforms. Our interconnect solutions, when combined with Intel, IBM, NVIDIA or ARM CPUs, allow users across the world to achieve significant better return on investment from their IT infrastructure.”

ConnectX-5 has set new performance records, delivering 200 million InfiniBand messages per second, 33 percent faster than the previous ConnectX-4 generation, and more than two times better versus proprietary 100G offerings. For Ethernet DPDK infrastructures ConnectX-5 enables 140 million messages per second, 1.7 times higher message rate versus previous generations. ConnectX-5 facilitates the building of the world’s most advanced and scalable data centers. The combination of ConnectX-5, X86, Power, ARM, FPGA and GPUs enables the most efficient server and storage platforms, overcoming performance bottlenecks that exist with competitive and proprietary products.

The ConnectX-5 adapter supports the latest In-Network Computing architecture, offloading high-performance computing and machine learning algorithms, accelerating DPDK infrastructures, optimizing storage platforms and more. According to Mellanox, the support for RDMA over InfiniBand and Ethernet, storage accelerators and full network offload makes the ConnectX-5 the most advanced adapter on the market today.
