Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In this video from ISC 2017, Keith Morris from NVIDIA describes how the company’s next-generation Volta GPU technology will drive HPC and AI applications to new levels of performance.

“AI is not defined by any one industry. It exists in fields of supercomputing, healthcare, financial services, big data analytics, and gaming. It is the future of every industry and market because every enterprise needs intelligence, and the engine of AI is the NVIDIA GPU computing platform. NVIDIA Volta is the new driving force behind artificial intelligence. Volta will fuel breakthroughs in every industry. Humanity’s moonshots like eradicating cancer, intelligent customer experiences, and self-driving vehicles are within reach of this next era of AI.”

The new NVIDIA Tesla V100 accelerator incorporates the powerful new Volta GV100 GPU. GV100 not only builds upon the advances of its predecessor, the Pascal GP100 GPU, it significantly improves performance and scalability, and adds many new features that improve programmability. These advances will supercharge HPC, data center, supercomputer, and deep learning systems and applications.

Tesla V100 delivers industry-leading floating-point and integer performance. Following are the peak computation rates. This chart shows the Tesla V100 performance in deep learning with the new Tensor Cores.

  • 7.5 TFLOPS of double precision floating-point (FP64) performance
  • 15 TFLOPS of single precision (FP32) performance
  • 120 Tensor TFLOPS
