Matthew Prew from NEC

Today NEC announced that NEC Deutschland GmbH is starting High Performance Computing sales operations in the United Kingdom. This business expansion in the UK, one of Europe’s most important high-tech regions, is in addition to NEC’s existing sales operations throughout Europe, including Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and others.

NEC Deutschland has named Matthew Prew as Senior Sales Manager of HPC in the UK, where he will be responsible for driving the expansion of new business. Mr. Prew brings more than 25 years of experience in the IT Industry. Starting in the early 1990s, he joined a European IT manufacturer focusing predominantly on the UNIX platform.

I am very happy that we have been able to get Matthew Prew on board, as his long-term experience within the UK HPC arena is exactly what NEC has been looking for over the last years,” said Yuichi Kojima, Vice President HPC EMEA at NEC Europe. “His outstanding market expertise as well as his large number of direct customer relationships will greatly contribute to NEC’s embedding into the HPC ecosystem of the UK.”

Later, he joined transtec Computers Ltd., a transtec subsidiary and UK-based specialist in high-performance IT solutions, and as a Senior Sales Manager, he worked his way up the corporate ladder and continued to adapt to the ever changing world of IT. Whilst as Country Manager heading up the UK Operations for transtec, he changed the strategy of the company and started to focus on the HPC solutions market place. By the early 2000s, when the HPC cluster revolution took place, he already had valuable first-hand experience in the HPC market. Since then, he has continued working in this environment with great success, understanding the requirements and needs of the users to deliver multiple high-value solutions across the UK.

NEC SX-Aurora TSUBASA – Vector Engine

It is an honor for me to represent NEC HPC for the UK,” said Prew. “NEC has always been at the forefront of HPC, and enjoys an impeccable reputation in the UK market. I am absolutely sure with NEC’s portfolio of HPC solutions, including the latest vector engine solutions based on NEC’s SX-Aurora TSUBASA, and the highly reliable HPC storage solutions, customers within the UK HPC arena will be satisfied 100%. I am looking forward to enhancing NEC’s reputation as a premium provider of HPC solutions in the UK, and as one of the most important HPC players in the world.”
