Video: Lustre, RoCE, and MAN

In this video from the DDN User Group at ISC 2019, Marek Magryś from Cyfronet presents: Lustre, RoCE, and MAN.

This talk will describe the architecture and implementation of high capacity Lustre file system for the need of a data intensive project. Storage is based on DDN ES7700 building block and uses RDMA over Converged Ethernet as network transport. What is unusual is that the storage system is located over 10 kilometers away from the supercomputer. Challenges, performance benchmarks and tuning will be the main topic of the presentation.”

Marek Magrys has over 12 years of experience in High Performance Computing, working for ACC Cyfronet AGH-UST, a leading Polish HPC center. He has been a member of the team responsible for design, procurement and installation of the fastest supercomputer in Poland, Prometheus. He has been involved in many national and European projects, such as PLGrid, EGI, PRACE and WLCG. He is currently leading the Data Storage Department in Cyfronet and coordinating few projects focused on large scale data acquisition and analysis. Marek is also an external expert for the European Commission in the scope of evaluation of Horizon2020 proposals.
