Job Description:

  • Aid in the design and implementation of the software infrastructure for a suite of Navy numerical weather prediction (NWP) systems, including, but not limited to, NEPTUNE, COAMPS, and NAVGEM.
  • Work on incorporating external software packages into Navy NWP systems through the development of generalized software interfaces under the guidance and direction of NRL scientists.
  • Develop interfaces between a wide variety of scientific programing languages, including FORTRAN, C, and C++.
  • In coordination with NRL scientists will be responsible for: optimizing software interfaces across a range of high performance computing (HPC) architectures, verifying the physical correctness of numerical solutions under different computer architectures and optimizations, and providing documentation for the optimization procedures.
