In this video from ATPESC 2019, Yunong Shi from the University of Chicago presents: SW/HW co-design for near-term quantum computing.

The Argonne Training Program on Extreme-Scale Computing (ATPESC) provides intensive, two weeks of training on the key skills, approaches, and tools to design, implement, and execute computational science and engineering applications on current high-end computing systems and the leadership-class computing systems of the future.

Yunong Shi is a graduate student at the University of Chicago. He is in the quantum architecture group, under the supervision of Professor Fred Chong. His interests lie in:

  • Quantum compilation optimization for NISQ (Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum) technology.
  • Program verification for quantum computing.

He contributed to ScaffCC and Qiskit compilers. In summer 2017, he was the WJ Cody fellow at Argonne National Laboratory. During the past year, he is the QISE-NET fellow at IBM designing optimization methods for Qiskit-terra compiler and protocols for alternative qubit architecture.
