Xilinx Alveo U50 Accelerator

Today Nimbix announced the availability of Xilinx Alveo U50 Accelerator Cards on the Nimbix Cloud. The offering includes support for the Alveo U50 in its JARVICE XE datacenter software for on premises and hybrid cloud application deployments. The Nimbix Alveo U50 FPGA-as-a-Service (FaaS) instance enables faster FPGA accelerator development and deployment in the cloud. A broad range of accelerated applications are available for the Alveo U50 instance including data analytics, AI inference, and image processing.

Nimbix has paved the way for FPGA-accelerated cloud computing and today leads with the broadest portfolio of cloud FPGA solutions in the industry,” said Steve Hebert, CEO of Nimbix. “The availability of U50 accelerators in the Nimbix Cloud and JARVICE XE are helping ISVs and developers bring new applications and solutions to market in the cloud.”

The unique adaptability of the FPGA-powered Xilinx Alveo U50 provides the flexibility to accelerate a diverse range of workloads, including high performance computing, networking, computational storage acceleration, data analytics and video processing, all on one reconfigurable platform. Built on Xilinx UltraScale+ architecture and packaged in an efficient 75-watt, small form factor, and armed with 100 GbE networking, PCIe Gen4, and HBM2.

A large and growing ecosystem of application vendors are working closely with Nimbix and Xilinx to offer pre-qualified, pre-programmed accelerated applications on the platform for a time faster to deployment. Currently supported applications include Spark big data analytics acceleration with Bigstream, AI inference capability with IBM Visual Insights (formerly PowerAI Vision) and Mipsology, and image/video processing from Deepoly.

The importance of ‘time to availability’ for powerful new accelerator platforms is critically important to developers and customers with application performance challenges,” said Adam Scraba, director of marketing, Data Center Group, at Xilinx. “We are excited about the strength of our collaboration with Nimbix and the speed at which they can deliver Xilinx’ latest platforms to customers through their Nimbix Cloud FPGA-as-a-Service offerings.”

Alveo U50 Accelerator Cards are available now. Customers may apply for a complementary Alveo Trial on the Nimbix Cloud.
