At Virtual SC20, high performance storage vendor DDN, provider of AI and data management software and hardware solutions, gave us an update on its line of Exascaler appliances, which DDN VP for Product Management James Coomer said has significant upgrades in its data management capabilities “to serve all kinds of use cases in the data lifecycle.”
Exascaler is our scalable parallel file system, it’s really been the flagship file system for DDN for many years. For the past two or three years, we’ve been working behind the scenes on building some extremely powerful data management capabilities…, so that not only can there be an extremely fast, very, very scalable file system, but also people can utilize those data management features, to serve all kinds of use cases in the data lifecycle – the big one being Snapshots.
Coomer also discusses favorable results for DDN generated by a recent HPC user survey from industry analyst firm Intersect360, as well as DDN’s progress in expanding its NVMe-based Intelliflash low latency product series into the midrange enterprise AI market.
We’ve got the stability, the strength and the history to gain customers confidence in us as a company to stay with them long term. But also, we’re different from the very big players because all we do is storage and data management. I think that shows in this (Intersect360) report. When customers come to DDN for help with some tough storage challenges, we really do have the expertise.
