On Wednesday, April 27, the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility will offer an overview of the ALCF’s latest high performance compute system for its user community. Polaris is a HPE Apollo 6500 Gen10+ with Nvidia GPUs and is currently number 12 on the Top500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers. The event is scheduled from 11 am CT until noon. Registration is here.

This overview is intended to provide a look at the Polaris hardware details and software available on the system and give users an idea of what to expect when broader access becomes available later in the year.

One of the two speakers will be Kevin Harms, a team lead of the Performance Engineering group within the ALCF. His interests include working on high performance storage and I/O. He received his Master of Science from Illinois Institute of Technology and his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University.

The other speaker will be Brian Homerding, a member of the Performance Engineering group within the ALCF. His interests include high performance portability frameworks and compilers. Brian received his Master of Science from Northern Illinois University and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
