June 30, 2022 — The Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation (CASC) has announce that Kathryn Kelley has joined CASC as it’s new Executive Director.
For more than three decades, CASC has promoted the use of advanced computing to accelerate scientific discovery for national
competitiveness, global security, and economic success. Kelley will work with the CASC Executive Committee and membership to help guide the organization in pursuing its vision of a robust, sustainable ecosystem supporting academic research computing and data services, enabled by a vibrant, diverse community of professionals.
“We are excited to have Kathryn on board and look forward to working with her to pursue the objectives in our strategic plan,” said CASC Chair Wayne Figurelle. “The CASC membership has put significant effort into refining its vision and mission objectives over the past several years. Kathryn brings a wealth of experience in supporting innovation in advanced technologies and impacting public policy, which will
help CASC make great strides in our mission areas.”
Kelley has more than 20 years’ experience in program leadership and strategic communications at industry-oriented higher education, economic development, and statewide technology organizations. She will bring her dedication to researching and issuing action-provoking reports on advanced manufacturing trends and disruptive technologies to enable CASC to broaden its horizons and engage new
communities.
Prior to joining CASC, Kelley was executive director of the Ohio Manufacturing Institute for nine years, developing policies and programs that positively impact manufacturers’ digital integration and advanced workforce development. Previously, she served Ohio Technology Consortium, which includes Ohio Supercomputer Center and OARnet, as senior director of public relations, outreach, marketing and
strategic communications.
Kelley is enthusiastic about her new position. “Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to guiding strategy-driven organizations toward meaningful change,” she said. “I look forward to leveraging CASC’s expertise in cyberinfrastructure, research computing and data analytics to build diverse and inclusive partnerships that impact national priorities in economic competitiveness and security, as well as prepare the next-generation of research scientists.”
