Jay Boisseau, a senior HPC strategist at Dell Technologies for more than eight years, has announced on LinkedIn that he is leaving the company “to get back to my geek roots and dive more deeply into the erupting field of AI (as the next big workload of HPC) and/or the exciting, emerging field of quantum computing (as the next great advance in HPC technology capability).”

“I’m fortunate to be at a point where I can immerse myself in learning for a bit – watch me try to cram two PhDs worth of knowledge into a few months! – and decide what I want to achieve after this midlife geek crisis long in coming,” said Boisseau, whose title at Dell was HPC & AI Technology Strategist.

Other current positions listed on Boisseau’s LinkedIn profile include CEO of computer support and services company Visias, Austin, TX; executive director of the Austin Forum on Technology and Society; founder and member of the Austin Smart City Alliance. He also was director of Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) for 12 years, ending in January 2014.

“I love Dell and am proud of the parts/roles I have played in helping grow its HPC capabilities…,” Boisseau said in his announcement.
