Eaton Announces Data Center Battery Backup

Dec. 17, 2024 — Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of its Eaton Samsung Gen 3 lithium-ion battery system, battery backup for data center, medical and industrial customers. It provides power for energy storage and emergency backup power for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for IT infrastructure.

The rise of AI and cloud computing are creating opportunities for IT and data center operators to rethink their power infrastructure to enhance the resiliency of critical assets. Eaton has pioneered the use of lithium-ion batteries in UPSs – which feature longer battery life and higher energy density in a smaller footprint – with thousands of deployments across a multitude of applications. With lithium-ion batteries, removeable battery modules and a DC-rated circuit breaker, Eaton’s Samsung Gen 3 lithium-ion battery system enables 24/7 uptime in critical data center applications while lowering total-cost-of-ownership (TCO).

Key features of Eaton’s Samsung Gen 3 lithium-ion battery system include:

  • Ships complete: The Eaton Samsung Gen 3 lithium-ion battery system ships complete to customers with batteries installed, streamlining deployment.
