In celebration of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, this event will spotlight the quantum research taking place at Argonne and in the region. The event will emphasize collaborations with academic, industry, and government partners, exploring how these initiatives are advancing the frontiers of quantum science and their potential impact on us all.
Speakers:
Michael Norman, Director, Argonne Quantum Institute (moderator)
Preeti Chalsani, SVP and Chief Quantum Officer, Intersect Illinois
Salman Habib, Director, Computational Science division, Argonne
Jiefei Zhang, Materials Scientist, Argonne
Over the past century – since pioneers like Werner Heisenberg and Erwin Schrödinger unveiled the fundamental behaviors of nature at the atomic level – researchers have become increasingly skilled at leveraging quantum properties to advance fields such as communications, computing, sensing, finance, national security, medicine, and materials design. This progress has also significantly deepened our scientific understanding of quantum matter and the universe.
Recognizing its potential to drive innovation and economic growth, governments and companies around the globe are making substantial investments in quantum research. Chicago and the Midwest have emerged as leaders in quantum research and innovation, earning the nickname “The Quantum Prairie,” a take on the Silicon Valley.
