Cristin Merritt on Alces Flight’s Sustainable Reality HPC and AI Event, Oct. 7 in London

We recently caught up with Cristin Merritt, well known in the HPC-AI community for her work in support of Women in HPC and as head of communications for Alces Flight, a UK-based supercomputing-by-subscription company specializing in high performance computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning and analytics.

In this interview, Cristin provides a preview of Alces Flight’s upcoming Sustainable Reality event on October 7 at the historic Royal Society of Chemistry at Burlington House in London.

Launched in 2023, Sustainable Reality is an annual community-focused event that explores the four main pillars of supercomputing: hardware, software, people and change management. The event brings together voices from industry and academia to drive practical, collaborative progress toward greener, more efficient, and more inclusive HPC.

Cristin tells us that this year’s theme is Catalysts for Change, focusing on our communities’ need for timely, responsible, and sustainable technology. We’ll hear from commercial and academic voices across the UK and EU, sharing insight on emerging innovations, foundational practices, and what’s next on the horizon.
And for the first time, we’re placing a special spotlight on next-generation leadership. Through dedicated student presentations, we’re bringing the voices of tomorrow’s technologists and researchers into the conversation today.

Attendance at Sustainable Reality is free, seating is limited. Registration and other details can be found here.
