Taos is immediately hiring a HPC Systems Engineer for a cutting-edge tech company in Sunnyvale, CA!

Who you are:
You are a service oriented, self-driven and motivated Compute/HPC Systems Engineer. You enjoy working on a high-intensity, fast-paced team, but can be a strong individual contributor as well. You are passionate about maintaining a high quality and productive environment for your team. You use your strong written and verbal communication skills to help your team achieve its operational goals.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing high performance computing resources, storage systems, web and file collaboration services, tools, licenses, databases, and workflow optimization
  • Building, maintaining, and growing HPC systems used for computationally intensive applications
  • Utilizing your excellent communication skills to support Hardware Engineers and understand their needs to develop scalable solutions
  • Improving design and analysis capabilities, and product development efficiency
  • Installing and integrating tools and software into a production environment
  • Developing programmatic solutions to systems issues using a DevOps/SRE mindset
  • Interacting with vendors and other engineering groups to continuously improve efficiency and quality of Compute Systems

What you’ll bring with you:

  • 5+ years of previous Linux system administration experience in an enterprise environment (200+ servers)
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems and internals (RHEL preferred) with a good understanding of networking and related protocols, OS customization, and package management (RPM, Yum)
  • Excellent scripting abilities with fluency in at least one of the following: bash, perl, ruby, python - appropriate use of built-in functions and libraries
  • Proficiency with source control, continuous integration and testing methods ( git, perforce, svn )
  • Familiarity with large scale environments - LDAP, NFS, server virtualization (VMWare), deployments and automation / configuration management (e.g. Puppet or equivalent), modular user shell environments, networking, geographically disperse sites
  • Previous work with batch queueing systems such as SGE, LSF, or Slurm a plus
