Do you have experience managing large Linux systems?

Would you like to work with the next supercomputer at KTH in Stockholm?

The PDC Center for High Performance Computing (which is based at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in central Stockholm) is expanding its group of system administrators and has a position open for a senior high-performance computing (HPC) system manager.

The new system manager will take up a leading role in the system administrator team (which consists of about eight people), running PDC’s computational and storage infrastructure. The work includes administration of the HPC and storage infrastructures and services, development of these services based on user needs and technological advances, and close interactions with the PDC application experts, users and suppliers of computing systems and software.

Applicants need to be comfortable using English as PDC is an international environment. Swedish is not required, so applicants from outside Sweden are welcome. (It is easy to live in Stockholm if you don't speak Swedish as nearly everyone here speaks English. Also Swedish language tuition is provided free for staff members who would like to learn some Swedish.)

Applicants need to have an academic degree in computer science or in an area that involves using HPC calculations, or a similar level of competence acquired through considerable practical experience.

Applicants also need to have extensive experience using, deploying, and administrating large Linux-based systems and services, plus experience running large HPC systems, preferably in an academic/research environment.

Excellent knowledge of Linux, standard programming and scripting languages is required. Experience working with HPC environments like MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, Lustre, SLURM etc. is also needed. In addition, knowledge of virtualisation (OpenStack, Docker, Singularity, etc.), big data analysis or machine learning would be useful.
