Report: Mellanox ConnectX Ethernet NICs Outperforming Competition

Today Mellanox announced that laboratory tests by The Tolly Group prove its ConnectX 25GE Ethernet adapter significantly outperforms the Broadcom NetXtreme E series adapter in terms of performance, scalability and efficiency. “Our testing shows that with RoCE, storage traffic, and DPDK, the Mellanox NIC outperformed the Broadcom NIC in throughput and efficient CPU utilization. ConnectX-5 also used ‘Zero-Touch RoCE’ to deliver high throughput even with partial and no congestion control, two scenarios where Broadcom declined to be tested.”

Mellanox and NEC Partner to Deliver High-Performance Artificial Intelligence Platforms

Today Mellanox announced in collaboration with NEC Corporation support for the newly announced SX-Aurora TSUBASA systems with Mellanox ConnectX InfiniBand adapters. “We appreciate the performance, efficiency and scalability advantages that Mellanox interconnect solutions bring to our platform,” said Shigeyuki Aino, assistant general manager system platform business unit, IT platform division, NEC Corporation. “The in-network computing and PeerDirect capabilities of InfiniBand are the perfect complement to the unique vector processing engine architecture we have designed for our SX-Aurora TSUBASA platform.”

Mellanox Ethernet Solutions Power Germany’s Most Advanced Cloud Datacenter

Today Mellanox announced that SysEleven in Germany used the company’s 25/50/100GbE Open Ethernet solutions to build a new SSD-based, fully-automated cloud datacenter. “We chose the Mellanox suite of products because it allows us to fully automate our state-of-the-art Cloud data center,” said Harald Wagener, CTO, SysEleven. “Mellanox solutions are highly scalable and cost effective, allowing us to leverage the Company’s best-in-class Ethernet technology that features the industry’s best bandwidth with the flexibility of the OpenStack open architecture.”

Mellanox EDR InfiniBand Speeds OpenPOWER Platforms

Today Mellanox announced that IBM has selected the company’s ConnectX-4 EDR InfiniBand adapters and EDR 100Gb/s IB switch systems for their new Power Systems LC line of servers designed for cloud environments and high performance cluster deployments and infused with OpenPOWER-based innovations. The technology will be utilized in the servers and high performance computing clusters as a part of an open architecture model which will feature technology from IBM, Mellanox and several other members of the OpenPOWER Foundation.
