Go with Intel® Data Analytics Acceleration Library and Go*

Use of the Go* programming language and it’s developer community has grown significantly since it’s official launch by Google in 2009. Like many popular programming languages (C and Java come to mind), Go started as an experiment to design a new programming language that would fix some of the common problems of other languages and yet stay true to the basic tenets of modern programming: be scalable, productive, readable, enable robust development environments, and support networking and multiprocessing.

Alan Turing Institute to Acquire Cray Urika-GX Graph Supercomputer

Today Cray announced the Company will provide a Cray Urika-GX system to the Alan Turing Institute. “The rise of data-intensive computing – where big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and supercomputing converge – has opened up a new domain of real-world, complex analytics applications, and the Cray Urika-GX gives our customers a powerful platform for solving this new class of data-intensive problems.”

Tony Hey Presents: The Fourth Paradigm – Data-Intensive Scientific Discovery

Tony Hey from the Science and Technology Facilities Council presented this talk at The Digital Future conference in Berlin. “Increasingly, scientific breakthroughs will be powered by advanced computing capabilities that help researchers manipulate and explore massive datasets. The speed at which any given scientific discipline advances will depend on how well its researchers collaborate with one another, and with technologists, in areas of eScience such as databases, workflow management, visualization, and cloud computing technologies.”

Interview: PDSW-DISCS’16 Workshop to Focus on Data-Intensive Computing at SC16

The first Joint International Workshop on Parallel Data Storage and Data Intensive Scalable Computing Systems (PDSW-DISCS’16) has issued its Call for Papers. As a one day event held in conjunction with SC16, the workshop will combine two overlapping communities to to address some of the most critical challenges for scientific data storage, management, devices, and processing infrastructure.
