This sponsored post from HPE delves into how tools like HPE Data Management Framework are working to make HPC storage “bigger on the inside” and streamline data workflows. “DMF seamlessly moves data between tiers, whether they’re “hot” tiers based on flash storage, “warm” tiers based on hard drives or “cold tiers based on tape.”
HPE Data Management Framework – Tiering, Organizing and Protecting your Data
In this video from ISC 2018, Mark Seamans from HPC describes how the HPE Data Management Framework optimizes data accessibility and storage resource utilization by enabling a hierarchical, tiered storage management architecture. “With HPE DMF, Data is allocated to tiers based on service level requirements defined by the administrator. For example, frequently accessed data can be placed on a flash, high-performance tier, less frequently accessed data on hard drives in a capacity tier, and archive data can be sent off to tape storage.”
HPE Teams up with DDN for High Speed Storage
Today DDN announced it has entered into a partnership with global high-performance computing leader Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Under the agreement, HPE will integrate DDN’s parallel file system storage and flash storage cache technology with HPE’s HPC platforms. The focus of the partnership is to accelerate and simplify customers’ workflows in technical computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning environments. “With this partnership, two trusted leaders in the high-performance computing market have come together to deliver high value solutions as well as a wealth of technical field expertise for customers with data intensive needs,” said Paul Bloch, president, DDN.
Video: DMF and Tiering Update
“DMF has been protecting data in some of the industries largest virtualized environments all over the world, enabling them to maintain uninterrupted online access to data for more than 20 years. Some customers have installations with over 100PB online data capacity, and billions of files, which they are able to manage at a fraction of the cost of conventional online architectures.”
SGI Rolls Out DMF for Lustre
Today SGI announced the immediate availability DMF for Lustre. “With SGI DMF for Lustre, enterprises can ensure constant access to data while leveraging the significant cost benefits and scalability of tiered storage.”
