Texas A&M to launch new HPE Center for Computer Architecture Research
Today the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station announced the creation of the new Hewlett Packard Enterprise Center for Computer Architecture Research. Made possible with a donation from HPE, the center’s mission is to lead the way into this new world of data-driven computing architectures through academic-industry collaboration. “There is no other cleanroom in the state of Texas that has all five of the high-end instruments HPE is donating, and we plan to become a regional hub for next-generation nano- and micro-engineering.”
HPE to Acquire Cray for $1.3 Billion
Today HPE announced that the company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cray for approximately $1.3 billion. “This pending deal will bring together HPE, the global HPC market leader, and Cray, whose Shasta architecture is under contract to power America’s two fastest supercomputers in 2021,” said Steve Conway from Hyperion Research. “The Cray addition will boost HPE’s ability to pursue high-end procurements and will speed the combined company’s development of next-generation technologies that will benefit HPC and AI-machine learning customers at all price points.”
HP-CAST Returns to Franfurt for ISC 2018
Hewlett Packard Enterprise will host HP-CAST once again this year at ISC 2018. The event takes place June 22-23 in Frankfurt, Germany. “The High Performance Consortium for Advanced Scientific and Technical (HP-CAST) computing users group works to increase the capabilities of Hewlett Packard Enterprise solutions for large-scale scientific and technical computing. HP-CAST meetings typically include corporate briefings and presentations by HPE executives, technical staff, and HPE partners (under NDA), and discussions of customer issues related to high-performance computing.”
Job of the Week: Research Engineer – Systems Architecture Lab at HPE
HPE is seeking a Research Engineer for their Systems Architecture Lab in our Job of the Week. “The System Architecture Laboratory at Hewlett Packard Labs has an immediate opening for a Research Scientist position with a background in high-speed mixed-signal CMOS design and silicon photonics. The critical tasks is the design of high-speed mixed signals circuits including modulator drivers, transimpedance amplifier, ADC/DAC, SERDES, and PLL using advanced CMOS nodes to enable high-performance computing systems. Successful candidates will have hands-on experience in the CMOS design, design verification, and lab testing of mixed-signal CMOS circuits to interface with photonics.”
