Interview: Dr. Eng Lim Goh on the Latest Trends in High Performance Data Analytics

In this video from ISC 2016, Dr. Eng Lim Goh from SGI discusses the latest trends in high performance data analytics and machine learning. “Dr. Eng Lim Goh joined SGI in 1989, becoming a chief engineer in 1998 and then chief technology officer in 2000. He oversees technical computing programs with the goal to develop the next generation computer architecture for the new many-core era. His current research interest is in the progression from data intensive computing to analytics, machine learning, artificial specific to general intelligence and autonomous systems. Since joining SGI, he has continued his studies in human perception for user interfaces and virtual and augmented reality.”

IDC to Host a Pair of Special Events at ISC 2016

IDC will hold a pair of simultaneous events on Tuesday, June 21 at 7:30am – 10:00am at ISC 2016 in Frankfurt. “IDC cordially invites you and other HPC community members to attend our annual HPC market update breakfast briefing at the ISC’16 conference in Frankfurt. This year, for the first time, we will hold two different events – the annual update on the whole HPC market, and at the request of the ISC organizers, a separate presentation focused on the HPC market for industry/commerce.”

New TPCx-BB Benchmark Compares Big Data Analytics Systems

Today the Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC) today announced the immediate availability of the TPCx-BB benchmark. The benchmark is designed to measure the performance of Hadoop based systems including MapReduce, Apache Hive, and Apache Spark Machine Learning Library (MLlib).

Teratec Forum to Spotlight HPC and IoT

The TERATEC Forum 2016 will host a June 29 workshop on HPC, Connected Objects, and IoT Infrastructures. The full event takes place June 28-29 in Palaiseau, France. “Many innovations and new generation systems are based on connected things equipped with massive instrumentation and integrated within Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) infrastructure. This workshop will be focused on new HPC software and infrastructure technologies integrated within these future global smart systems.”

Ansys, a provider of engineering simulation technology, has announced the release of its SeaScape architecture to help engineers accelerate the optimization of designs using a combination of elastic computation, machine learning, big data analytics and simulation technology.
