Quantum to Showcase End-to-End HPC Storage at ISC 2018

Today Quantum Corp. announced plans to showcase end-to-end storage capabilities for large-scale HPC environments at ISC 2018 in Frankfurt. “As storage requirements for sensor generated data, scientific research and advanced supercomputing resources evolve, Quantum continues to invest in a solution stack and technology ecosystem to manage the largest file counts and most demanding storage environments on the globe,” said Molly Presley, vice president, product management and global marketing at Quantum.

Quantum Corp Joins iRODS Consortium

Today Quantum Corp. announced the company has joined the iRODS Consortium, the foundation that leads development and support of the integrated Rule-Oriented Data System (iRODS). “Quantum is a leader in scale-out storage and they will offer great insight into their customers’ data management needs,” said Mark Pastor, archive solution marketing director, Quantum. “This is essential for software that is driven by the requirements of the user community. The addition of Xcellis Scale-out NAS to the body of product offerings that have been tested with iRODS shows great promise for the iRODS user community.”

iRODS Consortium adds Members and Joins OpenSFS

iRODS is taking an active role in Lustre community. The iRODS Consortium recently signed on to the Open Scalable File Systems, Inc (OpenSFS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the success of the Lustre file system, an open source parallel distributed file system used for computing on large-scale high performance computing clusters.

iRODS User Group Meeting to Preview New Capabilities

The worldwide iRODS community will gather June 13 – 15 for their first User Group Meeting to be held at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. Along with use cases and presentations by iRODS users from at least seven countries, the meeting will offer a glimpse at new technologies that will soon be available alongside iRODS 4.2.

Call for Papers: iRODS User Group in The Netherlands

Users of the integrated iRODS Rule Oriented Data System from around the globe will gather at the iRODS User Group meeting to discuss iRODS-enabled applications, discoveries, and technologies. The event takes place June 13-15 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. “Thousands of businesses, research centers, and government agencies located in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and Africa use iRODS for flexible, policy-based data management that provides long-term preservation and federation.”

Intel Joins iRODS Consortium to Better Integrate Lustre

Today the integrated Rule-Oriented Data System (iRODS) Consortium announced that Intel Corporation has joined their membership-based foundation. “As a consortium member, Intel plans to improve integration between iRODS, the free open source software for data virtualization, data discovery, workflow automation, and secure collaboration, and Lustre, an open source parallel distributed file system used for computing on large-scale high performance computing clusters. Membership in the consortium is a first step in offering an integrated tiered solution to Lustre end-users that allows them to easily move data sets from HPC systems into less costly long-term storage systems, where the data can be managed, shared and kept secure using iRODS.”

RCE Podcast Looks at iRODS Data Management Software

In this RCE Podcast, Brock Palen and Jeff Squyres speak with the creators of iRODS: Jason Coposky and Terrell Russell. Also known as the Integrated Rule-Oriented Data System, iRODS open source data management software is used by research organizations and government agencies worldwide. “iRODS virtualizes data storage resources, so users can take control of their data, regardless of where and on what device the data is stored. The development infrastructure supports exhaustive testing on supported platforms. The plugin architecture supports microservices, storage systems, authentication, networking, databases, rule engines, and an extensible API.”

iRODS Consortium Plans Busy Week at SC16

Attendees of SC16 who are interested in open source data management will have plenty of opportunities to learn about the integrated Rule-Oriented Data System (iRODS) and the new iRODS 4.2, which will be released just in time for the conference.

Panasas & Western Digital to Power Life Science Research with iRODS

“Our solutions ultimately make data readily available for users, applications and analytics, helping to facilitate faster results and better decisions,” said Gary Lyng, senior director of marketing, Data Center Systems at Western Digital. “We are excited to be working with Panasas as the volume, velocity, variety and value of data generated by modern lab equipment along with varying application and workflow requirements make implementing the right solution all the more challenging – and we have the right solution.”

Panasas Joins IRODS Consortium to Bolster Life Sciences

Today Panasas announced that it has joined the iRODS Consortium as a contributing member. The iRODS Consortium leads development and support of the Integrated Rule-Oriented Data System (iRODS), free open source software for data discovery, workflow automation, secure collaboration, and data virtualization.
