HPC Market Update from IDC

In this video from ISC 2015, Earl Joseph and Bob Sorensen from IDC provide an HPC Market Update. Additional topics include: the HPC Market in Europe, the upcoming HPC User Forum, and an HPDA Update: Where Big Data Meets HPC.

Video: TotalView Parallelizes Code at ISC 2015

“TotalView breaks down barriers to understanding what’s going on with your HPC and supercomputing applications. Purpose-built for multicore and parallel computing, TotalView provides a set of tools providing unprecedented control over processes and thread execution, along with deep visibility into program states and data.”

Smaller Companies Shun HPC in Europe

In the ISC opening keynote, the conference was told that Europe is failing to persuade enough small and medium companies to take advantage of high performance computing and engineering simulation, even though HPC and CAE are essential tools in modern industry.

Video: Data Storage Infrastructure at Cyfronet

“Cyfronet recently celebrated the launch of Poland’s fastest supercomputer. As the world’s largest deployment of the HP Apollo 8000 platform, the 1.68 Petaflop Prometheus system is powered by 41,472 Intel Haswell cores, 216 Terabytes of memory, and 10 Petabytes of storage.”

Numascale Powers Big Data Analytics with Transtec

“At ISC 2015, Numascale announced record-breaking results from a shared memory system running the McCalpin STREAM Benchmark, a synthetic benchmark program that measures sustainable memory bandwidth and the corresponding computation rate for simple vector kernels. Numascale’s cache coherent shared memory system, which was targeted for big data analytics, reached 10.06 TBytes/second for the Scale function.”

Radio Free HPC Looks Back at ISC 2015

In this video, Dan Olds and Rich Brueckner from Radio Free HPC discuss the latest news in High Performance Computing from the ISC 2015 conference in Frankfurt, Germany.

Speeding Up CFD Codes with Allinea Performance Reports

In this video from ISC 2015, Mark O’Connor demonstrates how the Allinea Performance Reports tool enables coders to speed up hydro, a real-world CFD code. “Allinea Performance Reports are the most effective way to characterize and understand the performance of HPC application runs. One single-page HTML report elegantly answers a range of vital questions for any HPC site.”

KTH Presents: Building Virtual Product Modeling for Scania

Daniel Ahlin from KTH (Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology) presented this talk at the DDN User Group at ISC 2015. “The PDC Center for High Performance Computing at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology provides leading HPC services to Swedish academia as part of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC) as well as internationally via the PRACE infrastructure.”

CoolIT Systems Innovates with Liquid Cooling at ISC 2015

“Power savings, increased rack density and high performance are the three key advantages of using liquid cooling. CoolIT Systems offers options for data centers with or without facility water hook up. Any server in any rack can be liquid cooled with CoolIT’s hardware, and benefit from immediate and measurable CAPEX and OPEX savings.”
