Adam Roe from Intel gave this talk at LAD’17 in Paris. “Lustre has had a number of compelling new features added in recent releases; this talk will look at those features in detail and see how well they all work together from both a performance and functionality perspective. Comparing some of the numbers from last year we will see how far the Lustre* filesystem has come in such a short period of time (LAD’16 to LAD’17), comparing the same use cases observing the generational improvements in the technology.”

To meet the capacity and throughput requirements of HPC workloads, Lustre has traditionally required adoption of custom proprietary storage products leading to vendor lock-in and reduced innovation. The evolution of software defined high availability platforms like ZFS running on Linux now make it possible to meet the performance requirements of HPC on open industry standard x86 platforms.”
Agenda Posted for LAD’17 in Paris

The LAD’17 conference has posted their meeting agenda. Also known as the Lustre Administrator and Developer Workshop, the event takes place Oct. 4-5 in Paris. “EOFS and OpenSFS are organizing the seventh european lustre workshop. This will be a great opportunity for Lustre worldwide administrators and developers to gather and exchange their experiences, developments, tools, good practices and more.”
Call for Proposals: LAD’17 in Paris

The LAD’17 Lustre Administrators and Developers Conference has issued their Call for Proposals. The event takes place Oct. 3-4 in Paris. “We are inviting community members to send proposals for presentations at this event. No proceeding is required, just an abstract of a 30-min (technical) presentation. Topics may include (but are not limited to): site updates or future projects, Lustre administration, monitoring and tools, Lustre feature overview, Lustre client performance, benefits of hardware evolution to Lustre, comparison between Lustre and other parallel file system, Lustre and Exascale I/O, etc.”
