Prof. Yutong Lu from China will Chair ISC 2019

Today ISC announced that Prof. Yutong Lu from the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou, China will be the ISC 2019 Program Chair. This new appointment begins a new journey for ISC High Performance, which has only seen men hold this position for the last four years. “As part of the international HPC community, ISC has committed to including more countries and people in order to foster a broader array of ideas and experiences.”

ISC 2017 Names Erich Strohmaier and Yutong Lu as Conference Fellows

Today the ISC High Performance conference announced the appointment of Dr. Erich Strohmaier of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA, and Prof. Yutong Lu from the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou, China, as ISC Fellows. ISC Fellows are individuals who have made and continue to make important contributions to the advancement of high performance computing (HPC), the community and the ISC High Performance conference series.

Video: Tianhe-1A Supercomputer at Work

In this video, researchers describe how the Tianhe-1 supercomputer supports scientific research. “Currently #43 on the TOP500, the 2.56 Petaflop Tianhe-1A carries out 1,400 computing tasks per day. It is mainly used to serve universities, research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and provide scientific computing services.”

An Open Invitation to Work on the Tianhe-2 Supercomputer

European researchers are welcome to use the world’s fastest supercomputer, the Tianhe-2, to pursue their research in collaboration with Chinese scientists and HPC specialists. “Enough Ivy Bridge Xeon E5 2692 processors had already been delivered to allow the Tianhe-2 to be upgraded from its current 55 Petaflops peak performance to the 100 Petaflops mark.”
