WekaIO Announces Results with NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect Storage in Microsoft Research Lab

CAMPBELL, Calif., March 22, 2021 – WekaIO (Weka), the data platform for artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), life sciences research, enterprise technical computing and high-performance data analytics (HPDA), announced today results of testing conducted with Microsoft, which showed that the Weka File System (WekaFS) produced among the greatest aggregate NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect Storage throughput numbers of all storage systems tested to […]

STFC Machine Learning Group Deploys Elastic NVMe Storage to Power GPU Servers

At SC19, Excelero announced that the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) has deployed a new HPC architecture to support computationally intensive analysis including machine learning and AI-based workloads using the NVMesh elastic NVMe block storage solution. “Done in partnership with Boston Limited, the deployment is enabling researchers from STFC and the Alan Turing Institute to complete machine learning training tasks that formerly took three to four days, in just one hour – and other foundational scientific computations that researchers formerly could not perform.”

AI on XSEDE Systems Promises Early Prediction of Breast Cancer

Researchers are using XSEDE supercomputers and artificial intelligence to predict breast cancer. “Our local GPUs did not have enough memory to accommodate such a scale of data for AI modeling. It could take weeks to run one experiment without the support of powerful GPUs. Using the GPUs from XSEDE, with larger memory, reduced that to a couple of hours.”

Accelerating Time to Results for AI at Samsung UK

Crispin Keable from Atos gave this talk at the DDN User Group in Frankfurt. “To provide a user-centric ecosystem, Samsung aims to build an AI platform under a common architecture that will not only scale quickly but also provide the deepest understanding of usage context and behaviors, making AI more relevant and useful. Atos was tasked with developing an AI infrastructure for Samsung UK’s AI Center that could be easily scaled in the future.”

NVIDIA DGX-2 Delivers Record Performance on STAC-A3 Benchmark

Today NVIDIA announced record performance on STAC-A3, the financial services industry benchmark suite for backtesting trading algorithms to determine how strategies would have performed on historical data. “Using an NVIDIA DGX-2 system running accelerated Python libraries, NVIDIA shattered several previous STAC-A3 benchmark results, in one case running 20 million simulations on a basket of 50 instruments in the prescribed 60-minute test period versus the previous record of 3,200 simulations.”
