Mellanox Enhances RoCE Software to Simplify RDMA Deployments

Today Mellanox announced the availability of new software drivers for RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet). The new drivers are designed to simplify RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) deployments on Ethernet networks and enable high-end performance using RoCE, without requiring the network to be configured for lossless operation. This enables cloud, storage, and enterprise customers to deploy RoCE more quickly and easily while accelerating application performance, improving infrastructure efficiency and reducing cost.

IBTA Plugfest Expands EDR InfiniBand & RoCE Ecosystem

IBTA’s world-class compliance and interoperability program ensures the dependability of the evolving InfiniBand specification, which in turn broadens industry adoption and user confidence,” said Rupert Dance, co-chair of the IBTA Compliance and Interoperability Working Group (CIWG). “With the continued support of our members and partners, the IBTA is able to offer the industry invaluable resources to help guide critical decision making during deployment of InfiniBand or RoCE solutions.”

New Version of RDMA-Spark Runs Native InfiniBand and RoCE

Fans of High Performance Data Analytics got a boost today with news that the High-Performance Big Data (HiBD) team at Ohio State University has released RDMA-Apache-Spark 0.9.1.

IBTA Publishes RoCE Interoperability List from Plugfest

Today the InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA) announced the completion of the first Plugfest for RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) solutions and the publication of the RoCE Interoperability List on the IBTA website. Fifteen member companies participated, bringing their RoCE adapters, cables and switches for testing to the event. Products that successfully passed the testing have been added to the RoCE Interoperability List.

IBTA Launches the RoCE Initiative

Today the InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA) announced the launch of the RoCE Initiative to further the advancement of RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) technology and promote RoCE awareness.

Open Fabrics Workshop to Focus on Application Performance, NVM, and SoCs

Today the Open Fabrics Alliance announced that their upcoming International OFS Developers’ Workshop will center around three major themes: Applications Performance, Non-Volatile Memory, and Systems-on-a-Chip (SoCs).

An HPC Virtualization Update from VMware

Over at the VMware CTO Office, Josh Simons writes that HPC efforts are stepping at the company with new staffing and some exciting InfiniBand performance improvements that could help make virtualization a widespread technology for high performance computing.

Slidecast: IBTA Releases Updated Specification for RoCEv2

“Major cloud providers and Web 2.0 companies have converged on RoCE to solve the challenges of running compute intensive applications and processing massive amounts of data in hyperscale networking environments,” said Barry Barnett, co-chair of the InfiniBand Trade Association. “The RoCEv2 standard enables multi-vendor, interoperable solutions delivering RDMA that spans hyperscale network environments. This in turn paves the way for broader adoption within enterprise environments in order to improve infrastructure efficiency and lower total cost of ownership.”
